An urgent recall has been issued after a safety issue was identified with certain white balloons sold on Amazon which contain a chemical which can lead to cancer.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the risk presented by this product is chemical. There are approximately 29 affected products in Ireland.
The balloons contain an excessive number of N-nitrosatable compounds which are harmful to the health of consumers and can lead to cancer.

Although the brand is unknown, other information has been made available to help people identify if they have purchased the product.
According to the consumer protection agency, the type/number of models is 0406407, the ASIN number is B09CK6QLKS and the barcode is X001H78AQT.
In a statement, the CCPC issued advice on what to do if you have purchased one of these products, urging anyone that did so to immediately discard the product and keep them away from children. They added to contact Amazon to enquire if a refund was due.
The CCPC said: “If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately, discard the product and keep out of the reach of children.
“You may wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you. This can be done via your user account on Amazon.”
