England midfielder Jude Bellingham won the prestigious Kopa Trophy during the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday evening.
The 20-year-old established himself as one of Europe’s leading midfielders during a three-year spell at Borussia Dortmund before a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Bellingham, who has enjoyed a rapid rise to the top after making his debut at Birmingham City as a 16-year-old, almost led Dortmund to the Bundesliga title last season and was recognised for his output there.
Ranking 18th in the Ballon D’Or shortlist, he beat former England youth teammate and current Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala to the award, previously held by Gavi.
"I wanted to thank everyone who got me to this point from Birmingham to Dortmund to Real Madrid and the national team,” said Bellingham.
"I'd also like to thank my family; mum and dad here tonight and my brother back home. Thanks for all of the support, thanks a lot. More to come."
