Balham stabbing: Man, 21, arrested for 'attempted murder' after knifing in south London

A 21-year–old man has been arrested following a stabbing near Balham station.

Police were called to Laitwood Road at 6am on Monday where they found a man suffering from stab injuries.

The victim remains in hospital, the Metropolitan Police said.

A 21-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in custody.

Meanwhile detectives enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Nearby Ormeley Road remained closed on Monday afternoon between Balham High Road and Cavendish Road following the attack, according to travel data site Inrix.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On Monday, 28 October at 06:00hrs police were called to Laitwood Road, SW12 following reports of a stabbing.

“Officers attended the scene and found a man suffering with stab injuries. They currently remain in hospital.

“A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in custody.

“Enquiries into the circumstances are on-going.”
