The New York Giants are 6-2 at the bye week and one of the reasons for their success has been the play of left tackle Andrew Thomas.
After a rough start to his NFL career, Thomas has not only rebounded, but thrived. He’s turned into a completely dominant tackle capable of lining up across from the league’s best pass rushers and shutting them down with seeming ease.
Pro Football Focus currently has Thomas with an overall grade of 90.2, which top all other tackles. The next closest (Trent Williams) is almost a full two points behind him.
“He’s playing at an unbelievable level. I think when you compare him to guys across the league, I think he’s the best. If not, he’s certainly in that top two or there,” quarterback Daniel Jones recently said of Thomas. “He’s playing at an unbelievable level and that’s huge for us on offense. It’s huge for me as a quarterback and being able to count on him playing at that level down after down, game after game.
“He’s been huge for us. He deserves a lot of credit, certainly. It’s no surprise to us, he comes to work every day. I think even last year he was playing at a really high level. He had some injury stuff; he was going in and out a little bit and that made it tough on him. He’s a heck of a player for sure.”
Retired offensive lineman and current NFL analyst, Brian Baldinger, recently dove into some film on Thomas and came to the same conclusion as the rest of us: he’s elite.

As 23 years old, Thomas is only just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. He’ll get older, wiser and even more dominant in the coming years if that’s possible.
General manager Joe Schoen has said he wants to keep some of the inherited talent on the team, and you better believe that includes Thomas.
