Balbriggan beach keeps do not swim warning as several Fingal beaches see water quality improve

Balbriggan beach has kept its do not swim warning as the latest set of water quality results have been released by Fingal County Council.

The water quality at the Strand beach remains poor with bathers warned to stay away from the water. A warning also remains in place for Rush North and Sutton.

While several other beaches including Portmarnock, Loughshinny and Claremont have met the threshold for excellent water quality. Fingal County Council have said that the next round of results is expected this coming Friday, September 9.

  • Front Strand Balbriggan met the standard for ‘Poor’ water quality, Bathing Prohibition notice remains in place.
  • Rush North Beach met the standard for ‘sufficient’ water quality.
  • Skerries and Sutton met the standard for ‘good’ water quality.
  • Loughshinny, Rush South, Portrane, Donabate, Portmarnock and Claremont met the standard for ‘excellent’ water quality.
