A gang of four thugs allegedly entered a Leigh home with a machete and assaulted the occupants in a 'traumatic' incident. Greater Manchester Police is investigating an aggravated burglary in the early hours of Friday morning (June 24) on Glover Street.
Following initial enquiries, police say four offenders wearing balaclavas entered the property before threatening and assaulting the occupants. One of the group was carrying a machete at the time of the incident, GMP says.
The group then left the property empty handed in the direction of Tamar Grove and Nel Pen Lane. The victims were taken to hospital for treatment.

Enquiries are ongoing and GMP is appealing for witnesses to assist with its investigation. Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to come forward as soon as possible.
Det Insp Phil Housley, of GMP Wigan’s CID, said: “Thankfully the victims weren’t seriously injured but this was obviously and understandably a traumatic experience for them and something which they shouldn’t have endured. Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and although officers remain in the area carrying out extensive enquiries, we are appealing for anyone with information or footage showing a group of four in the area at the time to contact us.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact GMP Wigan’s CID by calling 0161 856 7094, quoting incident number 157 of June 24, 2022. Information can also be shared anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by phoning 0800 555 111.
