Baker Mayfield snap tracker: Are the Browns on the way to a 4th round pick?

There may not have been a trade more under the microscope this offseason than when the Cleveland Browns traded former first overall pick, Baker Mayfield, to the Carolina Panthers. After publicly pursuing other options, Mayfield requested a trade from the Browns. The Browns initially denied his request, then landed their new guy, then sent Mayfield to the Panthers for a conditional 2024 fifth round pick.

The condition of the trade, however, was the fifth rounder could become a fourth rounder if Mayfield plays 70 percent of the offensive snaps for the Panthers in 2022. Where does he sit right now?

Coming into their game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Panthers had played a total of 468 offensive snaps. Mayfield played just 285 of them, sitting him at just over 60 percent of Carolina’s offensive snaps. He did, however, take over for P.J. Walker at halftime of the game after the Panthers fell down 35-0.

So while the Browns’ pick still sits as a fifth rounder, they could be trending back in the direction of getting a fourth instead should Mayfield continue to be the guy moving forward for the Panthers.
