Baker Mayfield frustrated trade hasn’t happened, ‘ready to move on’

For the last couple of years, Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield has held his youth football camp in northeast Ohio as the starting quarterback of the Browns. In 2022, Mayfield is no longer the team’s starting quarterback but is still on the roster.

Both sides seem ready for the divorce to be finalized leading Mayfield to hold his youth football camp in Norman, Oklahoma instead of Ohio. The former Sooner won his Heisman Trophy while at the school and was immortalized with a statue this offseason.

While the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks have reported interest in trading for Cleveland’s former starter, a trade has not materialized. At his youth camp, Mayfield shared that he is frustrated it hasn’t happened yet:

He was also asked the question that some in the media have pondered, whether he could return to the Browns if Deshaun Watson was suspended? Mayfield put that idea to bed quickly:

While the final act has not been written, Cleveland’s actions have made it clear that they will not be bringing Mayfield back. The quarterback’s words at his youth camp today make it clear that he will not be going back.

That chapter is finished for both the team and the player. The only thing left to write is the beginning of the next chapter for both.
