Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off 2022 series came to an end on Tuesday, November 15. The popular programme saw Syabira Yusoff crowned winner with judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood praising her "risk-taking" flavours.
The 32-year-old cardiovascular research associate beat Abdul and Sandro in the final which saw all three bakers suffer a "disastrous" technical challenge. You can read more on this here.
However just minutes into the Bake Off final viewers were left disappointed as host Matt Lucas revealed he would be without his co-presenter Noel Fielding. During the usual introductions in the famous tent Matt revealed Noel would be absent from the important proceedings.

"This is the final so I wish you all well and lots of luck," Matt said. "Now unfortunately Noely-pops isn't feeling very well so he's not here today." He added: "Hopefully he'll be feeling better later on and will join us."
However Noel returned for the showstopper bake as the judges filled him in on what he'd missed while he was also there to crown Syabira winner. Syabira described the win as her "biggest achievement".
She said: "I can't believe it. Honestly it hasn’t sunk in yet. All the hard work, all the trial and error, it has all been worth it." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
