Dame Prue Leith has got candid about what she thinks about the aging process and is clearly not a fan.
The Great British Bake Off judge explained: “I think old age stinks... It takes me 10 minutes to get myself out of the bed in the morning and if I don’t do the exercises, I can’t move! There's all sorts of things that are wrong with old age. You know, you are very conscious that this is nearly the end.”
The South African native did say that the flip side of being more aware of your own mortality is “you then decide that you're going to make the most of it and have fun.”
She also noted that you “don't care what people think as much as you did.”
The popular personality - who is known for sporting bright coloured spectacles - also admitted a fear she has around her advancing years when it comes to her marriage to “much younger” husband John Playfair.
Dame Prue tied the knot with the retired fashion designer in 2016 following the death of her first husband, Rayne Kruger, in 2002.
She said: “One of the things I would not like, and it’s not going to happen because he is much younger than me… But I really would hate life without him.”
Leith made her remarks as part of a “This is 70+” Loose Women special with Janet Street-Porter (78), Lesley Joseph, 79, and Gloria Hunniford, 84, which was specially recorded to mark ITV’s 70th year of broadcast.
The acclaimed restauranteur’s appearance marked her Loose Women panel debut and came hot on the heels of her being unmased as Pegasus on ITV’s The Masked Singer.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12:30pm on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player // Watch Loose Women’s This Is 70+ special on ITVX and STV Player.
