Some fans of The Great British Bake Off were left disgruntled as they tuned into the latest episode of the Channel 4 series.
This week saw the contestants tasked with creating dishes for Custard Week - however, many viewers were quick to spot that little baking was actually involved in the challenges. Instead, the bakers were tasked with creating a floating island using poached meringue, before having to serve up pistachio praline ice creams in the technical round.
Custard Week was a new addition to this year’s series, after judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith vowed to create tougher challenges for contestants. But lots of fans were left unhappy with the episode due to its lack of baking and took to social media to air their frustrations, The Mirror reports .

One Twitter user complained: “Ice cream isn’t baking!” while another similarly vented: “Ice cream? In what way is that baking?”
“Is it just me or are most of the challenges on GBBO no longer baking?” another viewer questioned.
“Watching Great British Bake Off. Where did the baking go?” one fan asked, and another followed up with: “Fail to see what baking was accomplished on the Bake Off.”
One viewer tweeted: “This floating island challenge is such a farce because none of it involves baking! What’s the point?”
“There’s no actual baking in this program anymore,” another said. And some fans even threatened to switch off the show for good because of its changes.
“Bread week with no bread. Mexican week with no baking and now 'custard week' - GBBO has jumped the shark. This is my last season,” one viewer wrote.
