The New England Patriots went in a circuitous route from Tom Brady’s exit eventually to Mac Jones, who did quite well as a rookie last season.
With Jones out due to injury and Brian Hoyer sidelined because of concussion protocol, Bill Belichick unveiled Bailey Zappe.
The fourth-round pick from Western Kentucky via Houston Baptist has been brilliant in filling in for Jones.
In Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns, Zappe was putting on a road show.
The four quarter was well underway and Zappe already had thrown for more than 300 yards and a pair of touchdowns as New England led Cleveland, 27-9.
