KOCHI: After the high court granted anticipatory bail to Dileep and others in the conspiracy case, the witness in this case – director P Balachandrakumar – said that he was neither happy nor sad with the court order. Balachandrakumar said that as a layman he felt that the accused in the case was strong and if he was free, the probe would be affected.
Crime Branch, probing the case, will go ahead and analyze the voice clips submitted by the director. As per the order of the jurisdictional magistrate court, Dileep and others should appear at Chithranjali studio in Kochi on Tuesday to provide voice samples as part of validating the veracity of the voice clips. On Friday, the court had directed the manager of Chithranjali studio to record voice samples and send them to the forensic science laboratory in Thiruvananthapuram.
“The bail will obviously be a challenge for the investigators. My journey forward, as a witness, would be as per the instructions of the investigators,” said Balachandrakumar, adding that during the past one month, Kerala has realized that the accused was not an ordinary person.
He claimed that the bail doesn’t indicate that his statements were disregarded by the court as such an assessment happens only during the trial stage. “This is just the initial stage. He has only received bail and the case has not been disposed of. The investigation and trial are yet to take place. I believe that police were able to present the evidence I gave as well as other evidence before the court,” he said.
He added that it was not a real setback for the prosecution or him. “The only issue is that custodial interrogation will not happen. For me as a person, the news did not evoke happiness or sadness. I knew that the accused was strong. But, we must welcome the court verdict,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kochi police said it going ahead with its investigation in the rape case registered against the director based on a woman’s complaint on Saturday. Balachandrakumar said that he was innocent in the case and that the case was part of a witch hunt.
