BAFTA TV Awards: Time, how to watch – and full list of nominations

TV’s major event of the year is nearly here!

The BAFTA TV Awards will take place tonight (May 8), celebrating the best of both British and international television from the past year.

The highly-anticipated awards show will give well-deserved recognition to some of the fantastic TV shows we’ve seen on our screens recently, with genres including comedy, current affairs, sport, reality, mini-series and more.

Shows in the spotlight this year include Channel 4 ’s drama It’s A Sin, which has seen stars Olly Alexander and Callum Scott Howells receive their first nominations and has picked up a whole host of nominations in other categories.

Netflix ’s biggest show ever has also received a nomination in the International category, Squid Game reached 111 million fans within 28 days of its release.

Another Netflix favourite to rack up some nominations is Sex Education, season three of the raunchy teen comedy brought in 55 million viewers within the first month and fans will be eager to see whether stars including Aimee Lou Wood and Ncuti Gatwa win in their categories.

It’s looking to be an exciting night, so here’s everything you need to know about who’s nominated and how you can watch.

How can you watch the BAFTA TV Awards?

The BAFTA TV Awards will take place tonight, kicking off at 6pm.

The awards show is being hosted live from London’s Royal Festival Hall by comedian Richard Ayoade.

But you don’t need to be in the audience to watch the show, the whole thing is being broadcast on BBC One from 6 pm and will also be available on BBC iPlayer.

If you can't wait till 6pm, then you can also access live coverage of the event from 2 pm, which will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook.
