'Baffled' neighbours left distraught as woman found dead in car in Leeds tragedy

Neighbours have spoken of their "shock and sadness" after a 'nice' woman was tragically found dead in a car on their street, adding how "baffling" the whole experience has been.

The woman was found in a car in Warrel's Mount, Bramley, yesterday at 3.30pm (Tuesday, March 21). There were multiple ambulances, fire service and police in attendance with the end of the street, on the junction with Grosmon Road, taped off.

A resident, who didn't wish to be named, spoke of her "sadness" at learning the devastating news. She added she knew the woman who lived a few doors away from her, adding that they'd often say "hello" to each other when they passed each other in the street.

In all the 50 years she's lived there and raised a family, she says nothing like this has ever happened before. She said: "It's very upsetting.

"I didn't know what was happening. There were all these police cars and vans. All I know is they found the lady's body.

"I realised which house it was. I presume it's the lady who lived in that house. I used to say hello to her, she seemed nice. She was just a nice person, I used to see her coming and going to work."

Another resident, a mother who has lived there for 15 years, said: "I'm a bit shocked really. It is just baffling. Why was she found like that in her car?"

West Yorkshire Police have reassured the public, stating the force does not believe the woman's death to be suspicious at this time. Enquiries are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
