The Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT) has hired three more coaches in an attempt to seek Olympic glory at Paris 2024.
The trio are Indonesia's Agus Dwi Santoso, South Korea's Kim Ji-Hyun and Thailand's Maneepong Jongjit.
Santoso and Kim signed contracts with BAT president Patama Leeswadtrakul at a ceremony at a Bangkok hotel yesterday. Former national team player Maneepong was not at the function.
They will work with Thai coaches Saralee Thungthongkam, Sitthichai Vibulsin and Patipat Chaladchalaem.
"The mix of experienced foreign coaches and Thailand's former players will drive us to success," Khunying Patama said.
"We are preparing our team for upcoming events like the SEA Games and the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup in May and the Asian Games in September. The most important target is to win a historic medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris."
Thailand has won Olympic medals in only three sports -- boxing, weightlifting and taekwondo.
Santoso will look after men's singles players, Kim will train women's singles stars and Maneepong will oversee mixed doubles players.
Kim was a member of the South Korean women's team which won gold at the 1994 Asian Games.
She has previously coached the national sides of South Korea, India and Taiwan.
Kim also helped India's PV Sindhu win the world title.
Santoso is familiar with Thailand having guided Kantaphon Wancharoen to win bronze at the 2019 world championships.
