Bad Wolf, the production company behind popular television shows like 'His Dark Materials,' 'A Discovery of Witches,' and 'Doctor Who,' has recently made an exciting addition to their team. Emma Obank, former executive at U.K. agency Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, has been appointed to the newly created role of creative and commercial affairs executive.
In her new position, Obank will be working closely with Bad Wolf CEO Jane Tranter and director of content Dan McCulloch. Her primary responsibilities will include nurturing new writers and directors, with a focus on developing original series that can have multiple seasons. She will also play a key role in expanding Bad Wolf's lineup of projects, taking them from the development stage to being greenlighted for production.
To accomplish these goals, Obank will collaborate with Bad Wolf's teams in Wales, London, and Los Angeles. Additionally, she will support Screen Alliance Wales's new voices schemes, which aim to provide opportunities for underrepresented individuals in the industry.
At Casarotto Ramsay, Obank was known for representing some of the U.K.'s most promising emerging talents and launching programs to help underrepresented writers and directors connect with agents and industry professionals. She has also been a beneficiary of mentorship through Women in Film & TV's mentorship scheme and has shared her experiences and insights at various industry events and organizations such as BAFTA, the BFI, and Directors U.K.
Tranter and McCulloch expressed their excitement about Obank joining Bad Wolf, highlighting her drive, creativity, and ability to champion new voices. They believe that her decision to transition from agenting to producing is bold and brave, aligning well with Bad Wolf's mission to surprise and innovate within the television industry. They are committed to supporting the next generation of TV drama and see Obank as a valuable addition to their team.
Obank herself expressed her enthusiasm about joining Bad Wolf, a company she has long admired for its ambition and dedication to bringing epic stories to the screen. Having had the privilege of representing and nurturing a talented group of writers and directors at Casarotto Ramsay, she is excited to continue developing pioneering series alongside some of Britain's most creative and talented individuals.
With Obank's appointment, Bad Wolf is poised to continue delivering high-quality, boundary-pushing television content. As they work towards expanding their slate and supporting new voices, the production company remains committed to surprising and delighting audiences with their unique storytelling.
