A carer who fled Aberdeen after scamming a patient has now been struck off.
The decision was made to remove Faith Njoku, after it was found she convinced a patient she wanted a romantic relationship with him and took thousands of pounds from him. She then told the patient if he wanted to see her again, he would need to come with more money.
Njoku was working for H1 Healthcare Solutions in Aberdeen at the time, before seeking employment in Glasgow and then Edinburgh. The events, which happened in August 2020, have now been investigated and a report from the SSSC says the carer ‘placed a vulnerable service user at risk of unnecessary harm’.

After fleeing Aberdeen, she registered for another care role under a different name. The SSSC say this goes against her suspension, that was pending investigation.
In January 2022, Njoku then took on work at The Manor in Edinburgh, as a support worker in a care home for adults whilst the suspension was still in place. Reviewing the events, the council said she was ‘inappropriate’ and ‘dishonest’.
They continued: “Social service workers are expected not to form inappropriate relationships with people who use services.
“Your acts were financially motivated. You placed a vulnerable service user at risk of unnecessary harm, this constitutes a misuse of power and position and an abuse of the trust placed in you.
“Social service workers must be truthful, open and honest. You registered for employment, and undertook work in a role requiring registration, under a different name.
“You were dishonest. The behaviour was serious and you exploited a service user for financial gain.”
Njoku has been removed from the SSSC Register, effective immediately.
