Baby pigeon weighing 14g rescued after being found alone in Scots garden

An adorable baby pigeon weighing just 14g has been rescued after it was found alone in a Scots garden.

SSPCA staff were called to tend to the hatchling after it was discovered by a member of the public in Edinburgh with no nest in sight.

It is believed that it had not long hatched, with blood still seen on its beak from where it could have pecked its way out of its egg.

The tiny feral bird was checked over by the SSPCA vet before being taken to a rescue centre.

A spokesperson for the SSPCA said: "This is the smallest baby feral pigeon to arrive at our wildlife hospital so far this year. They weighed in at a tiny 14 grams, having not long hatched from their egg.

"This little one will be inside our warm brooder for a while longer until feathers start to come through. We also expect their eyes to open soon."
