A baby who was hit by a car outside a Welsh hospital has died in hospital, police have confirmed. The little girl had been airlifted to Cardiff for treatment after the incident outside Withybush Hospital last Wednesday (June 21).
She was then taken to a hospital in Bristol, but sadly died in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 25). Three people were taken to A&E after a car reportedly collided with pedestrians outside the hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, around 11.50am.
Dyfed Powys Police said at the time that a pedestrian, the driver of the car and a passenger had all been taken to hospital for treatment, and a child had been airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
On Monday, a spokesman said: "We can confirm the infant injured following a collision outside Withybush Hospital on Wednesday, 21 June, sadly passed away at Bristol Children’s Hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning (25 June). The driver of the car remains in hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The HM Coroner has been informed and enquiries are ongoing."
He added that the child's family are being supported by the hospital bereavement services and officers from Dyfed-Powys Police at this tragic time.
