A 1-month-old baby boy was found on the median of a busy street in Colorado on Christmas morning, and his mother's family alleged he had cocaine in his system.

Jarvis Sims, 42, and Christina Thurman, 33, were arrested for allegedly abandoning their baby, Xion, on a busy street in Denver after they had a fight on Christmas morning, FOX31 reported. The boy was found by a passerby sitting in his car seat, dressed only in a diaper.

The baby's family told the outlet that the infant allegedly had traces of cocaine in his system, and was taken into the custody of Child Protect Services. Now, his mother's family is pleading for him to be returned to them.

"We're trying everything to get the baby back. He belongs with family. Her other three kids are here with us, why can't the baby be? Any one of us is willing to take that baby and make sure he is with who he belongs, with his family," April Aragon, Thurman's mother, told FOX31.

"It's my grandbaby's first Christmas with a stranger. First Christmas, like his sisters, my grandkids are everything to me. For him just to be left out, it's not fair," she continued.

Police are seeking to charge Sims and Thurman with felony child abuse.
