Baby died on Boxing Day while sleeping in same bed as mum and brother

A three-month-old baby was found dead last Boxing Day morning after sleeping in the same single bed as his mum and brother, an inquest has heard. Baby George Moseley died while sleeping I'm the same bed as mum Dorota Czubaszek, who had drunk a bottle of wine on Christmas Day and gone to bed at 2am, reports StokeonTrentLive.

Dorota woke at 8am to find that George had died in the night. In a statement, Dorota said: "At 3am George was still awake. I laid by George so I could breastfeed him. I lay on my left side to allow him to feed from my breast.

"I woke up and was facing in the opposite direction to where I fell asleep. When I turned I saw my other son was asleep by the side of George. George was in the same position as when I had fallen asleep. He was not moving. I started to panic."

The parents called 999 and tried to resuscitate George. But he was pronounced dead by paramedics at 8.20am. Consultant paediatric pathologist Dr Roger Malcomson carried out a post-mortem examination and gave the cause of death as sudden unexpected infant death in the context of co-sleeping with a parent and sibling.

Assistant coroner Daniel Howe said: "George passed away at Victoria Street, Leek, while co-sleeping overnight in a bed with his mother and brother." He added: "The conclusion is a sudden unexpected infant death in the context of co-sleeping with a parent and sibling."
