A beautiful newborn baby boy had an exciting entry to the world last week after being born on the side of the Carlow to Dublin road.
Gardai in Naas were put into action when they received a call for immediate assistance along the M7 motorway between Carlow and the capital. A woman was in labour and her contractions had gone as close as a minute apart and they needed medical attention.
Two gardai - Richard Oxley and Sean Smyth - were tasked with responding to the call. They were quick to action to keep the mother and her baby safe.

And in good news a beautiful and healthy little boy was born right as the National Ambulance Service arrived. Gardai posted an account of the quick roadside delivery and shared an image of the gardai involved.
They said: "Just as our colleagues in the Ambulance Service arrived, Mam gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy. We are so thrilled to know that this little family are all doing well, and baby is taking it all in after an exciting trip into the world!"
