Babatúndé shares secret 'deep' chats with Owen Warner not shown on I'm A Celebrity

Babatúndé Aléshé has opened up about the ‘deep’ conversations he had with fellow campmate Owen Warner as he lent his backing to the Hollyoaks star to be crowned King of the Jungle.

The 36-year-old comedian shared how he passed on words of wisdom to the fan favourite ahead of his eviction from the ITV reality show on Wednesday evening.

Referring to secret chats not seen on screen, Babatúndé said: “I would love to see Owen win. I think he’s a courageous young man and he’s just so cool. I really do like him.

“I said Owen to win on the show with Ant and Dec too and that’s because of the talks me and Owen had were just so deep.

“I think being someone that’s older than Owen, he really respects my word as someone being both a married man and older and I appreciate that about him because I’ve learnt from my mistakes and being able to teach him before he ventures into lets say marriage.

“We had conversations about relationships, yeah, we had 24 hours a day!”

Turning closer to home he said he was delighted to feel so accepted after winning so many votes from the general public and surviving several eliminations.

Babatúndé touched on his wariness over whether the general public would accept him, but added: “Being on a show like this and also Gogglebox has shown me that people like me for me and it’s shown me that I don’t need to hide who I am and I’m grateful for that because I never thought that would be possible.

“I’m grateful that the British public embraced me. I never thought that would be possible at all.”

Babatúndé went on to talk about his young son and his hopes of being a role model for him, saying: “I didn’t grow up with my dad so I never got taught the things that I believe a dad should teach their children about life and being brave and taking on the world and the challenges you can face dealing with people.

“So, I definitely feel like even though it was two weeks and it was a small time, I can definitely take this experience and teach my son about stepping into the unknown and being comfortable with it.”

Babatúndé clocked in at 19 days in the I’m A Celebrity camp and celebrated his exit with chips, pizza and Prosecco after spilling his last glass on screen.

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
