B/R dreams up Titans-Packers trade scenario for Aaron Rodgers

After news came to light that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had purchased land in Franklin, Tennessee, with the intention of building a house there, speculation has been running rampant that the Titans and Rodgers might be on track to join forces in 2022.

Of course, there is nothing concrete on the subject and it’s mostly just dot-connecting at this point, but a recent report suggested that the Titans don’t view Rodgers as an option.

However, after what we saw from Ryan Tannehill in the divisional round, and with what we know about Rodgers’ career, the Titans would be crazy to not at least explore adding the future Hall of Famer.

In order for the Titans to upgrade from Tannehill to Rodgers, Tennessee would have to move the former’s contract first or else it simply wouldn’t work.

Cutting him isn’t an option, though, as Tannehill carries a massive dead cap hit the Titans’ can’t afford to absorb under any circumstance.

One way they could possibly unload Tannehill is to trade him to the Packers, along with a slew of draft picks, in exchange for Rodgers, which is something Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox dreamed up.

Here’s his suggested trade:

Tennessee Titans receive: QB Aaron Rodgers

Green Bay Packers receive: QB Ryan Tannehill, 2022 first-round pick, 2022 third-round pick, 2023 first-round pick, 2023 second-round pick, 2023 third-round pick

Would we do this deal? Without hesitation.

Yes, those are a lot of picks, but we also have to remember that the Titans are in win-now mode and aren’t as dependent on draft picks at the moment as teams that are rebuilding.

Adding to that, Tennessee has several starters on both sides of the ball set to return in 2022 and there aren’t a lot of holes to fill as a result.

Championship windows like the Titans are in right now don’t last forever, and they don’t come around that often, either, so if the opportunity presents itself, Tennessee should absolutely pull he trigger on a deal for Rodgers.

Do we expect it to happen? Not in the least, but that isn’t stopping up from dreaming about it.
