Shoppers are rushing to DIY giant B&Q to get their hands on £6.75 lights that can light up your home for pennies. With Christmas fast-approaching and the cost of living crisis only worsening, people are pinching their purse strings more tightly than ever - so it's no wonder the budget lights have gone down such a storm.
B&Q's 120 Warm white LED String lights with Clear cable were £9, but have been reduced to £6.75. While they have been designed for a Christmas tree, many shoppers are using them to light up their living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens as they cost just pennies to run.
The B&Q lights cost 50p to run for an hour. People say they give a gorgeous warm glow, and provide just the right level of brightness. The calculation is based on current GB’s energy cap of £0.34 per kWh and NW’s standard home energy tariff of £0.295 per kWh from 1 October.
Based on 8.5 hours a day for 30 days. Rates are averages and will vary by region, payment method and metre type. The lights have already racked up plenty of glowing five star reviews online.
One five-star reviewer wrote: " Affordable, warm white not too bright Fits perfectly around a 4ft tree, warm white light that isn't too bright, multiple settings - memory function that remembers which setting you had it on last too so no faffing about skipping through each setting every time you turn them on."
Another said: " Unique lights! Brilliant lights, lovely warm glow unlike lights anywhere else." A third said: "These lights are fantastic...lovely warm glow and not too bright like many other led's."
A fourth impressed shopper said: "I have them on top of my kitchen cabinets looks lovely." A fifth concurred: "I bought this as a lighting accent in my living room and it works perfectly by giving the room a warm glow and providing cosy, indirect lighting."
