Although B&Q might not be the first place you think of when it comes to steamy romance, shoppers have been recently tickled pink by paint names that sound straight out of a saucy novel. Taking to Twitter, designer and art director Daniel Benneworth-Gray joked that he'd "been to B&Q to get some titles for my self-published romance novels", sharing a snap of the saucy-sounding products in question.
Daniel, who goes by the username @gray, had picked out a range of paints with titles that would indeed look better placed on front covers populated with swooning, passionate couples. The titles include Fleecy Dreams, Humble Lady, Canyon Hush, Here Comes the New Girl, and Frisky Whiskers.
Now, you could well imagine Humble Lady being a Bridgerton-style romance filled with coy glances and fluttering fans. Here Comes the New Girl could be an office-based fling, while Fleecy Dreams could well feature a protagonist who gives up her big city life to fall head over heels for a shepherd.
A number of fellow Twitter users also agreed that the novels pretty much write themselves, with one person remarking that there really should be a "colour chart for the title pages."
Another remarked: "Romance? A couple of those look very top-shelf to me...."
Others had their preferences on which one they'd be more likely to leaf through, with a third person admitting that they "would like to read Frisky Whiskers."
A fourth person, an author themselves, jested that they might be able to pull inspiration from the evocative paint names, chuckling: "Might use this method next time I've got to come up with a strapline."
Much to the amusement of social media users, even B&Q themselves got involved, tweeting, "Frisky Whiskers, coming to a bookshop near you", accompanied by a cheeky little winking face.
The Mirror has reached out to B&Q for additional comment.
