A building guru has claimed that people can slash their energy bills and prevent mould, thanks to a £4 bargain from B&Q.
According to the ex-worker, the simple plastic sheet can stop moisture build-up and ultimately prevent mould, reports Manchester Evening News. Expert Clive Holland, who worked as a builder but is now a broadcaster with Fix Radio, a show that is aimed at tradespeople.
In an interview with The Sun, Clive recommended that people should purchase film sheets that are designed to insulate windows. These sheets keep warmth in and moisture out, which slashes energy bills and keeps mould at bay.

Speaking to the publication, Clive said: "You can buy specific cling-film packs to go on various-sized windows. Putting film on your window as secondary glazing does actually work.
"It helps keep heat in, plus it prevents condensation build up, while also blocking any draughts.”
Clive also explained how people should go about fitting the sheets. He said: "Begin by cleaning the surface, so you have no mould. Then cut the plastic sheet to the right size and smooth it along the frame.
"At first, it will look saggy and horrible. But don’t worry about this, just make sure you have a really good seal. Once you take the hairdryer to it, it will shrink back into position."
Clive added: "It’s such a simple technique, but it’s really effective. It will wrap the window so tightly, it will prevent any warmth from leaving through cracks. It will also stop any moisture from building up."
Some of the cheapest window insulation sheets can be found at B&Q, with a two pack costing just £7.99 - working out at £4 per sheet.
Clive advises against using cling film for the same thing. He said: "I do know people who use normal cling film, but I just don’t think it’s as good. It’s very thin, and once you put the hairdryer on it, it can just perish and not take the heat.
"For me, the home window insulation kits are much better. They are also readily-available online or from your local DIY store.”
You can purchase a two-pack Window Insulation Kit Shrink Fit Double Glazing Film Draught Excluder Heat for £7.99 on the B&Q website here. Other options are available in different DIY stores.
