A B&M shopper snapped up a bargain after finding £70 worth of items reduced to £3 using the variety store chain's app. The mum says she uses a built-in scanner on the B&M app, which many other shoppers claimed they didn't know about, to bargain hunt - with this her best find yet.
Danielle Harper managed to pick up three chunky knit rugs from the bargain retailer for £1 each. They had been on sale for £40 for the larger one and £15 each for two smaller ones but hadn't yet been marked down by staff staff.
However, after they caught her eye, she scanned them with the app and discovered the bargain price. She amazed other budget shoppers by sharing her haul on a Facebook group - as they declared they would try out the scanner, too.

The scanner is one of the icons on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen when you open the app. It allows you to scan the barcode of any item in a B&M store to check the price if it isn't displayed or the item may have been reduced.
It's particularly useful for finding end of line and clearance products which staff haven't marked down in store yet. In her Facebook post, Danielle wrote: "Finally found a Bargain at B&M by using the scanner in the App! Each rug - £1 each!!" and also shared a photo of her receipts as proof, reported the MEN.
After intrigued shoppers replied to the post with questions about how it works, Danielle added: "When you're in store open the app onto the scanner and you can scan anything you want that they sell.
"I've been doing it a while and only just found these bargains so it can be hit and miss, but there's lots of 'sets' etc in the sale after Xmas so it's a great time to use the scanner to find some cheaper things as they don't always mark them down on the shelves."
The revelation had many shoppers eager to give the app a go themselves, as some tagged other people to spread the word. One wrote: "We need to download the app and have a day out in B&M scanning for bargains" and another commented: "How did I not know about this."
In the thread, one commenter said she'd found that barcodes aren't always recognised on the scanner. However, another replied: "If the item isn’t recognised in the scanner and it’s older stock it’s usually 10p. Sometimes it can be new stock that isn’t on the system yet, but 90% of the time it’s 10p."
A B&M spokesperson said the scanner was launched around three years ago - and is so popular that a number of Facebook groups have been set up for people to share what they've found. She said: "B&M aim to provide customers with an exciting shopping experience, always offering great products at fantastic prices.
We’re delighted that our customers love finding a bargain deal as much as we do, and the scanner app has continued to grow in popularity since it launched. The dedication shown by the army of bargain hunters to seek out the best deals is proof that everybody loves a bargain."
