B&M shoppers fume at 'utter greed' of new chocolate display on shelves

B&M has outraged many of its loyal shoppers by stocking a range of early Easter-themed treats "far too early."

While many of us might still not be over the hustle and bustle of Christmas, the discounted retailer is already gearing up for another holiday well in advance.

B&M took to its Instagram account to share that it had already begun stocking some fan-favourite Easter chocolate eggs from Cadbury's more than three months early.

One shopper shared a snap of their local B&M store's shelf that was full of Cadbury Creme Eggs, Mini Eggs and Caramel Eggs - and it has not went down well with other shoppers who branded it as "an absolute joke."

Resharing the snap to its own account, B&M wrote: "Happy NEW YEAR, everyone! Please don't shout at us, but we're already excited!

The post was quickly flooded with reactions from fuming shoppers who are not ready to begin celebrating the Easter season, with some calling it a "money-making exercise."

"Yet another money making exercise months in advance", fumed one shopper.

"Far too early for this nonsense", commented a second unhappy shopper.

"Have you nothing better to do - commercial greed at its best. Next thing we will be seeing Christmas decorations in July", replied a third outraged shopper.

"Get a grip B&M this is just pure utter greed", agreed a fourth.

"Seriously way too early not even finished the Xmas chocolate yet", replied a fifth.

However, not all shoppers were outraged at the early Easter chocolates, as one rushed to B&M's defence by commenting: "People complaining its months in advance will still be the same people who complain when they leave it to the last minute to buy and it's sold out."

A spokesperson for B&M told the Daily Record: “Yes, you heard right - everyone’s favourite bargain store has a decadent range of chocolate eggs now available to buy in store.

“We’re not yolking – wave goodbye to Christmas as Easter eggs have now hit the shelves. January is a notoriously long and dark month of the year, so to help banish those January blues and help customers stay sunny side up, B&M have released their egg-citing range of chocolate treats early. So don’t feel like you need to wait until Easter to crack on and treat yourself to one early – we won’t judge”.
