B&M product sold at £6.99 helps transform mum's council house kitchen

A mum has shared how she has managed to get the farmhouse kitchen of her dreams on a budget of just £50. Natasha Lawson used a £6.99 bargain from B&M to help turn her council kitchen into a rural retreat that turned out so well she was left ‘gobsmacked’.

Filmed in four parts, Natasha’s kitchen makeover video shows how the mum-of-one tries to achieve the grey and oak farmhouse-style kitchen she has spotted. The only trouble is she has an ultra tight budget of tens of pounds and not the tens of thousands new kitchens can cost.

DIY fans have already been sharing her journey as she turns her council house into a home. She has been using bargain buys from the likes of B&M, Home Bargains and Poundstretcher to work her way through the house.

Transforming her bedroom with DIY paneling using MDF won her many fans. By the time she turned her attention to the kitchen she had amassed more than 50,000 fans on TikTok..

Natasha started off with some sticky-back vinyl from B&M that that cost just £6.99 a roll. And thanks to just a few rolls of grey and a few rolls of wood-effect , her kitchen looks brand new.

Natasha armed herself with decorator’s knives and new sanding blocks to carry out the all important preparation. Once ready she used the small decorator’s knife to cut the vinyl to size, a screwdriver to remove the door and drawer handles and metal trims and a card to squeeze out the air bubbles.

Natasha polished off the job with a £4.50 grout reviver pen to brighten up the white between her tiles, which she was convinced to keep by legions of fans.

“I’m absolutely obsessed,” she says after showing off her fresh cupboard doors. “I’m absolutely gobsmacked with the results.

“You can already see the difference and see how beautiful it looks”.

Fans have been quick to complement her achievements. “You’ve done an amazing job!” one user said. While another said “I have loved watching your videos. Well done you, you should be so proud!”

As well as sharing their admiration for the job, many fans are quick to help Natasha and others out on their journeys, offering tips and tricks for removing the vinyl if it were the case.

“Is this stuff sticky?” Asked one fan. “I’d love to do this but we are rented so will have to remove it one day”.

Another of Natasha’s fans added: “Should be fine! If you blast it with a hair dryer the glue melts and it comes off really easy, any excess glue can just be wiped away!”
