B&M and Home Bargains New Year's Eve and New Year's Day opening and closing times

Many retailers are adjusting their opening hours over the Christmas and New Year period, which means staff will get a well-deserved break. If you're planning on heading to the shops, you'll need to know what changes are in place.

Bargain retailers B&M and Home Bargains will be closing all of their stores on New Year's Day, which falls on a Sunday in 2023. The majority of stores will be open in the days before and after for anyone needing to get their essentials.

Shoppers are being urged to check the opening hours for individual stores before heading out to avoid any disappointment as some may be adjusting their opening and closing times over the festive period.

Here's what you need to know about changes to opening and closing times for B&M and Home Bargains.

B&M

B&M stores will be open for limited hours over the New Year. The majority of stores will be open on New Year's Eve but may be shutting early. All stores will then stay closed on New Year's Day before reopening again on Monday.

The retailer says customers should check individual store opening times on the B&M website. A number of Greater Manchester stores - including Hulme, Belle Vue and Trafford Retail Park - will be open at the following times over New Year:

Friday, December 30: 8am to 9pm

Saturday, December 31: 8am to 6pm

Sunday, January 1: Closed

Monday, January 2: 8am to 9pm

Home Bargains

Home Bargains stores will close again over New Year. The stores were shut for two days overs Christmas and will close again on New Year's Day.

Most stores will be open the following Monday, but customers should check with individual stores for their local store's opening hours.

Home Bargains said the three-day closure over the festive period is to ensure that staff members can spend some time with loved ones at Christmas. A spokesperson said: "We know how hard all our colleagues have worked throughout the year. Being a family-run business, we recognise the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones. Therefore, we feel it is only right to support our valued store teams by giving them extended time off around Christmas and New Year."

To check opening hours for individual stores, you can visit the Home Bargains website. A number of Greater Manchester stores - including White City Retail Park, Fallowfield Retail Park and Regent Retail Park in Salford - will be open at the following times over New Year:

Friday, December 30: 9am to 6pm

Saturday, December 31: 9am to 6pm

Sunday, January 1: Closed

Monday, January 2: 8am to 8pm
