ScotRail has issued a warning to those heading to Ayrshire that space will be limited on trains.
The rail service has warned its passengers to be prepared for limited seating within the carriages heading to the coast.
It is expected many will want to take advantage of the scorching weather today at one of the region's many beaches or beauty spots.
On its Twitter account, ScotRail posted: "With the sunny weather, lots of people are travelling by train down to the Ayrshire coast.
"With high demand, space on trains coming back later will be limited. So consider getting an earlier service, ideally before 5pm.
"Hope you all have a great day and stay safe in the heat."
Ayrshire is set to bake in temperatures as high as 28C in some places over the coming days.
Ayrshire Police Division added: "Those visiting beaches across North and South Ayrshire today are advised to remember that there will be a restricted train service and capacity from 6pm tonight and ensure safe travel home.
"Trains departing Ayr returning to Glasgow scheduled for 6.07pm, 6.50pm, 7.12pm, 7.41pm, 8.45pm and 9.45pm will have limited capacity."
