An Ayrshire swimming pool had to be deep cleaned after a 'poo incident' this week.
Troon swimming pool's main pool had to be sealed off to the public after the messy accident on Tuesday.
A source close to the pool confirmed the closure was down to the water being contaminated with "faecal matter".
The facility remained closed today but will reopen tonight to be used by South Ayrshire swim team before reopening to the public tomorrow.
Leisure chiefs were unable to confirm what the incident was which led to the "unexpected closure".
The closure meant all main pool activities and lessons were cancelled.
Parent and child aqua fun sessions were able to continue.
A Council spokesperson said: “Troon swimming pool was closed unexpectedly yesterday to allow the main pool to be cleaned following an incident.
“The swimming pool will reopen this evening for use by the South Ayrshire swim team. It will reopen to the public tomorrow as normal.”
