Ayrshire's 'best' Chinese reopens at new venue leaving foodies delighted

A staple within Ayr’s hospitality scene have announced they are back in business following a short closure.

Popular Chinese restaurant Lychees will once again be serving up their delicious Asian Fusion cuisine but in a new venue on Ayr’s South Harbour Street.

The restaurant had served the town for 11 years at their old premises on Miller Road in Ayr but sadly announced they were pulling down the shutters in May.

News of the closure was a hard hit for the town’s hospitality industry, with many commenting about the top food and service when dining at the family owned business.

It’s understood Lychees will now be reviving the unit of another former reputable Chinese restaurant, The Royal Blossom, which has lain empty for years after opening in the early nineties with a host of Chinese, Thai and Malaysian dishes.

A post on Lychees’ Facebook page reads: “We can officially announce that we will be moving venue down to South Harbour Street.

“We unfortunately cannot confirm an opening date but will be keeping you all updated when we can.

“But in the mean time, we have some vacancies open for front of house and if you’d like to join the Lychees family when we reopen, please send in your CV to us via email - info@lychees-ayr.co.uk

“Look forward to seeing you all again soon!”

Loyal customers already can’t wait to return and tuck in to their favourite dishes.

Julie Kennedy said: “Aww I’m so pleased to hear you’re going to reopen in the future.

“We have been so missing your very tasty meals. Best of luck when you guys move to South Harbour Street.”

Lorna Finlayson commented: “Wishing you all the best in your new location and can’t wait to sample your lovely food again.”

Maureen Dunlop added: “Aw brilliant….The BEST Chinese in Ayrshire.”

Lychees’ return follows the closure of fellow South Harbour Street restaurant The Waterfront.

Owners Ally and John Kerr said it ‘is with great sadness’ they have decided to close the award-winning seafood eatery after 10 years, citing hardships over the ‘past couple years’.
