Ayrshire non-league clubs face disciplinary rap over ineligible player allegations

Kilwinning Rangers and Whitletts Victoria face disciplinary action over claims they fielded ineligible players on the opening day of the West of Scotland League season.

Kilwinning skipper Kevin Nicoll played the full 90 minutes in Saturday's 3-1 Premier Division win away to derby rivals Irvine Meadow.

The 36-year-old, who joined the Buffs from SPFL League One side Clyde in the summer, was sent-off on the final day of last season and official SFA documents state he has a two-game ban to serve.

Ayrshire Football News understands Meadow have asked football chiefs to look into the issue.

Kilwinning boss David Gormley would only say: “I’m letting the club deal with the matter.”

It comes as fellow Ayrshire side Whitletts prepare to face a similar rap from beaks on Hampden's sixth floor.

Vics fielded skipper Jordan Boyd in the 2-0 win over St Roch's in the First Division at Dam Park on Saturday.

It's understood Boyd, who scored the opener in the game, was ineligible due to a two-match ban carried over from last season.
