Ayrshire hospitality group to create 30 jobs after makeover at Si! in Irvine

Up to 30 new jobs are to be created in Ayrshire's hospitality sector following the £250,000 revamp of an Irvine venue.

SimpsInns are billing their new attraction one of the region's "trendiest" new meeting places.

They have today unveiled their upcoming concept - ‘The Potting Shed at Si!’ - and are inviting applications for a variety of positions, including vacancies for chefs at all levels, front of house team, duty managers and an operations manager.

Bosses say the venue will offer guests a brand-new experience at one of Irvine’s most recognised venues.

“We’ve shaken things up at Si! and are delighted to introduce one of Ayrshire’s trendiest new meeting places where flavours and ideas from our global travels have come together at The Potting Shed,” said Jack Simpson, who has played a key role in delivering the new vision at The Potting Shed.

“The Potting Shed is very much a casual thing. We’ll get the day started with great breakfast and brunch options.

"The griddle will be piping for those all-important homemade pancakes, packed, stacked and just the way you want them.”

“The very best artisan food will be served through the day; from exquisite buns and mouth-watering sandwiches to Italian style pizza and tapas and much more to take you into the evening.

"A team of baristas and mixologists will also be on hand to serve speciality coffee and shake up a range of cocktails,” added Simpson.

The Potting Shed is on the ground-floor and will seat up to 80 people in the completely reimagined new space, that includes a dedicated dog-friendly area.

Relaxed and informal seating areas that are ideal for meeting friends, family and colleagues for coffee or brunch throughout the day are also part of the setup.

Upstairs, The Terrace bar and restaurant will seat diners, both inside and on the newly refurbished heated outdoor balcony.

SimpsInns is the driving force behind The Potting Shed and The Terrace at Si! as well as the group’s flagship venue The Gailes Hotel & Spa, Irvine.

The company supports around 280 existing local jobs and has recently invested more than £3 million across its portfolio of venues along the Ayrshire coast at The Gailes, The Waterside Hotel at West Kilbride, and Old Loans Inn, near Troon.

SimpsInns owner, Malcolm Simpson, added: “Following a four-month, £250,000 makeover, we can’t wait to welcome guests to The Potting Shed and The Terrace from spring 2023.

"We’re committed to exceeding our guests’ expectations and continually invest in our hotel and leisure facilities to make them the very best they can be.

“In preparation for opening The Potting Shed and The Terrace, we’ve just launched a recruitment campaign to fill a range of professional hospitality roles, and for anyone looking to kick-start their hospitality career in 2023.

"We’re recruiting for chefs, front of house staff, an operations manager and many more roles with over 30 vacancies available to apply for now.”

Anyone interested in applying for one of the new positions at The Potting Shed and The Terrace at Si! can apply now by emailing their CV and cover letter to recruitment@simpsinns.com or by visiting www.simpsinns.com/careers by Sunday, February 26.
