Ayrshire hospital unit shut down with patients told to call NHS24

An Ayrshire hospital unit has been shut down today by health chiefs.

The Minor Injuries Unit in Girvan Community Hospital has been closed due to "unforeseen circumstances."

NHS Ayrshire & Arran confirmed they had to close down the unit earlier today.

Patients were told to contact NHS24 on 111 for advice if they have a minor injury.

According to NHS Ayrshire & Arran's website, minor injuries can cover cuts that need stiches, broken bones, sprains and minor burns.

The nearest Minor Injury Unit is Girvan is Ayr.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran has been contacted for comment.
