Progress is being made at an Ayrshire nursing home which was previously told to improve its quality of care.
Cumnor Hall Care Home, in Ayr’s Racecourse View, was required to make four improvements to its care provision.
The requirements were handed down from the Care Inspectorate following an inspection earlier this year.
Now it seems the home is heading in the right direction - with three of the four requirements being met.
And senior staff have now been given extra time so that the outstanding requirement from the Care Inspectorate is achieved.
Cumnor Hall is registered to provide a care home service to a maximum of 31 older people living with dementia.
This includes a respite service for a maximum of four people at any one time.
An extract from the Care Inspectorate’s latest follow-up report said: “The service had made improvements since the last inspection and met most of the requirements.
“People were positive about the new management team. And managers were aware about what aspects of the service need further improvement.”
The scrutiny body also noted that there were “meaningful activities” taking place in the service and families were “positive” about the changes that had taken place within the service.
The report goes on: “During this follow up inspection, we found that there had been some improvements and that three of the four areas for improvement were met.
“We found that further work is still needed to improve the mealtime experience for people whilst effectively promoting nutrition and hydration needs. This area for improvement was not met and will continue.”
