Ayr United's youth starlets scored an impressive win over elite opposition as they downed Hearts in Edinburgh on Friday night.
Goals from Max Guthrie and Brook Dreghorn completed a comeback victory for the Honest Men's under 18 side in the pre season friendly.
Hearts hit the front in the the 23rd minute when their number 10 stole the ball from Bruce Strachan and drove towards the goal and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
Ayr responded quickly and equalised eight minutes later when Jonathan McPhee's ball into the box was brought down by Guthrie, who turned to fire home.
United started the second half on top and a winding run from Dario Viviani was almost rewarded with a goal.
Ryan Kennedy’s effort from 20 yards also went just wide as Ayr pushed forward.
Shaun Donnelly and Dreghorn both fired just wide as the visitors cranked up the pressure before they got their deserved winner in the 79th minute when Dreghorn finished from close range after Viviani's shot had been saved.
