Aymeric Laporte hails career decision as 'best experience of his life'

Aymeric Laporte has hailed his decision to switch allegiance from France to Spain as the 'best experience of his life'. The Spain international signed for Manchester City from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 and since then has gone on to make 142 appearances for the club, scoring an impressive 11 goals.

Laporte has managed to cement himself as a first-team regular at the Etihad this campaign making 31 appearances in all competitions. But despite his good form in his early time at City, he failed to earn a call-up to the France national team, which led to the Basque native to switch his nationality to Spain.

Speaking to Estadio Deportivo, the 27-year-old said: "Despite not having achieved the objectives that are always winning titles, on a personal level, it is one of the best experiences of my life. They welcomed me very well and they continue to do so.

"I feel at home, we are a family and I am very proud to be a part of it, of the phenomenal team atmosphere. I’m very happy for this experience and for enjoying the national team so much."
