Awards season 2024: How to watch the Grammys, Brits, Oscars and more

With the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards and Primetime Emmys already behind us, the showbiz world has turned its attention to the upcoming award ceremonies in the next few months.

There have already been some surprising twists and turns during award season, including Barbie’s Greta Gerwig being ‘snubbed’ as director in the recent Oscar nominations.

There have also been some incredible wins, including Oppenheimer, which won several awards at the Golden Globes and Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily Gladstone becoming the first Native American to win Best Actress in a Motion Picture.

But there’s still plenty more showbiz pomp and red carpets set to take place in February and March, with the season closing after the 96th Oscars.

With the nominations in for events such as the Academy Awards, film and TV buffs are already pondering who might take home a coveted gong at the remaining ceremonies.

Here is what else you can look forward to and when to watch each awards ceremony.

February 4: Grammys

Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish are leading the way with nominations for the music awards in 2024. Comedian Trevor Noah will be this year’s host for the fourth time.

Fans are already sharing their predictions about who will win big at the much-anticipated music awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles this Sunday.

While US artists appear to dominate the Grammy nominations, Scottish music producer Blair Ferguson, who has worked with Justin Bieber, has been nominated for five Grammys.

The ceremony will be broadcast live in the US on CBS and Paramount Plus.

February 18: Baftas

The British Academy Film Awards (Baftas) are the UK’s biggest gala event, and the longlist for nominations has already been revealed.

Taking place at the Royal Festival Hall in London, the 77th Baftas will bring some of the world’s leading stars together to celebrate the best films, documentaries, directors, and actors of 2024.

With Saltburn and Barbie among some of the nominations, the 2024 Baftas are certainly something to look forward to.

March 2: Brit Awards

The Brit Awards will be held with a twist in 2024 after a rule change to encourage diversity. The number of nominees for British and international artists of the year will increase from five to 10.

The Brits will be broadcast from the O2 Arena and two performances from Raye and Dua Lipa have already been announced.

As with previous years, the Brits will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX.

March 10: Oscars

The 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles will be broadcast live on ABC in the US on Sunday, March 10. It will be broadcast on ITV in the UK — with the broadcaster succeeding Sky.

Jimmy Kimmel will return as host having presided over the ceremony in 2017. This was the year of the infamous mix-up between La La Land and Moonlight as to who won Best Picture. Kimmel also hosted the event last year and in 2023.

“I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times,” Kimmel joked.

As with other award shows, Oppenheimer has dominated nominations with stars such as Carey Mulligan and Emily Blunt also nominated. A full list of Oscar nominations can be found here.
