THE owners of an award-winning Scottish fish and chips shop have announced the store's closure despite their "best efforts" to keep it open.
Zio G's, based in Linlithgow, posted on social media that the shop would close down on Tuesday.
The eatery won the Best Takeaway and Best Fish and Chip Shop titles at the 2018 and 2019 Edinburgh Business awards.
Despite success, the owners said it had become "increasingly difficult" to stay open amid challenging economic times.
They posted: "Important Announcement from Zio G's. We want to let you know that as of [April 15], Zio G's will be closing its doors.
"This isn't an easy post to share.
"Like many small businesses, we've faced incredible challenges since Covid, and despite our best efforts, it's become increasingly difficult to keep going."
Customers were quick to express their sadness at the closure.
One wrote: "So sorry to hear that guys. Great food and service. And a fantastic local business."
"I'm deeply sorry to hear this. It was an honour to work along side you all, I wish you the best of luck with your future," another commented.
A third person wrote: "I'm absolutely gutted for you all. Loved a wee visit when I was down that way. Wishing you all the very best for the future."
