Award-winning Scots author latest guest of Lanarkshire Bookface group's book swap brunch

An award-winning author will have visitors to Lanarkshire's Bookface group turning the page to an exciting day later this month.

Alan Parks will discuss Tartan Noir at the literary organisation's latest book swap brunch at the Glaschu restaurant and bar in Glasgow's Royal Exchange Square on October 29.

Talented Alan was the winner of this year’s prestigious McIlvanney Prize and the Glasgow-born author has amassed fans from all over the world with his best-selling crime novels featuring lead character Harry McCoy.

Praise and plaudits from his literary peers include Ian Rankin, Louise Welsh and Peter May, while American writer Bret Easton Ellis described his work as “gripping and violent, dark and satisfying".

Alan will be discussing his award-winning work May God Forgive - book five in his thriller series - with journalist Maggie Barry.

There will also be an opportunity to meet Alan and take part in a Q&A session with the writer, along with Bookface's sustainable book swap, with 300 titles to choose from, and a Prosecco brunch in the award-winning restaurant.

Heather Suttie, from Coatbridge, founder of online group Bookface, which has attracted 2300 members worldwide, said: “Having Alan as the guest author is a real privilege.

"Fans will have the chance to ask him questions about his crime thrillers, listen to their backstories and buy a signed copy of his award-winning book May God Forgive .”

Bookface's book swap brunch is an inspirational monthly event where book lovers swap titles, enjoy delicious food and participate in a 45-minute Q&A with some of Scotland’s most noted authors, with Doug Allan, Lisa Gray, Guy Grieve, Helen Fitzgerald, Paul English and Sophie Gravia just some of the celebrated names who have taken part.

Tickets priced £30, which includes tea/coffee, prosecco, brunch and a Lillet cocktail, are available here, and guests are encouraged to bring four books to participate in the book swap.
