Award winning Dublin takeaway creates spice bag Easter egg

Award winning Dublin takeaway Saba To Go has teamed up with Deliveroo and the chocolate experts at L’Art Du Chocolat to bring a rather strange vision to life.

While many a Dub will be enjoying a classic lamb roast this Easter Sunday, some would prefer their regular weekend takeaway.

But this one is far from regular.

Deliveroo felt inspired to give spice bag lovers a treat this Ester by combining the classic seasonal treat with the beloved spice bag. You did indeed read that right.

The delivery service has partnered with L’Art Du Chocolat to create a spice bag inspired Easter egg. The egg is made of Tropelia Noire (a decadently rich chocolate with a rounded flavour profile that has savoury notes) and hand rolled in fiery chillies.

It is also encrusted with salt crystals and mounted on a spicy ganache evocative of spice bag flavouring.

To top it all off, it is adorned with zingy lime green shard that represent the fresh notes in a spice bag.

This one-of-a-kind egg will be available exclusively to Saba customers who order through Deliveroo. Meanwhile a limited amount of eggs will be gifted to punters who order spice bags over Easter weekend.

Co-founder of L’art Du Chocolat Nicolas Bateau said: "It’s not everyday you’re challenged with turning an Irish takeaway classic into a knockout Easter egg. It’s been a delight working with Deliveroo on this weird and wonderful egg and we hope Saba’s spice bag devotees enjoy it as much as we do."

Meanwhile Alan Cadden from Saba said: "At Saba, we’re passionate about spice bags. We love that Deliveroo gives this Irish phenomenon its due respect. We can’t wait to delight some of our customers with this surprise treat this Easter."

Arabella Jenkins of Deliveroo added: "We go loco for spice bags at Deliveroo. So, naturally we wanted to pay homage to this behemoth of Irish takeaway culture with a very special Easter egg. It’s truly unique and sure to delight the senses."

Saba To Go delivers from its restaurants on Baggot Street, in Rathmines, Dundrum and Deansgrange.
