Award honour for The Neuk crisis centre in Perth

Perth-based Neuk Mental Health Crisis Centre was recently recognised for the service it provides by receiving a prestigious award.

The charity is a multi-agency, one- stop crisis centre, dealing with all realms of mental health.

Since its inception in April 2021, local police officers in Perth and Kinross have worked closely with The Neuk’s service managers Derek and Wendy Given - and their team - referring many people in urgent need of help and support.

Recognising the importance of this “vital service” and the close-working relationship being fostered,Sergeant Dave Summers, from Perth’s Community Policing Team, nominated The Neuk for Policing Partner of the Year at the National Police Constable’s Excellence Awards 2022.

At a recent ceremony at Police Scotland’s Tulliallan Castle, The Neuk was delighted to win the award.

Wendy and Derek thanked Sergeant Summers and Superintendent Graham Binnie for nominating them.

“We have worked tirelessly over the last three years helping to ensure people have a safe and supportive environment they can access when in a mental health crisis,” added Wendy.

“The police partnership is an innovative new way to help address the needs of vulnerable people at a time of distress, providing a positive experience.”
