Avram Glazer has confirmed that Manchester United are proceeding with takeover talks for the club, although there is no timeframe for when a deal might be completed.
Last month, United's controversial owners confirmed in a statement that they had put the club up for sale and would seek new investment in the club.
The Glazer family is believed to prefer a full sale of the club, though there is still the possibility they could sell a stake in the club while remaining in control.

Glazer was approached by The Athletic outside the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar on Wednesday night, where he spoke briefly about the possibility of selling United.
Asked for an update on the sale of United, he told the outlet, “It’s not necessarily a sale, it’s a process and we’re going forward with the process, so we’ll see what happens.”
When he was pushed for further updates about how many interested parties had made themselves known already, he added: “I’m here to really watch the World Cup but I appreciate your interest. That’s the update, it’s the process and the process is proceeding.”
The Glazers became majority owners of the club in 2005, against the backdrop of fan unrest over the financing of the takeover.
They have remained almost universally unpopular in the 17 years since, with mass protests taking place at the time of the takeover and again in 2010, 2021, and this year.
United's on-field success was not immediately derailed by the 2005 takeover, but Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013 exposed their shortcomings off the pitch.
United have not won the Premier League for nine years and have only lifted three major trophies since Ferguson left the club.
