Avengers star Karen Gillan is latest Scot to be tipped for James Bond

Karen Gillan is just the latest Scots actor to be added to the James Bond odds.

The 34-year-old has joined the likes of Sam Heughan, Richard Madden, Ewan McGregor and Gerard Butler as potential 007 candidates.

The Inverness-born actress is best known for her roles as Amy Pond in BBC's Doctor Who, as well as Nebula in Marvel's blockbuster film franchise.

Karen's odds are currently 50-1 on bookies William Hill.

The star has previously spoken about how she'd like to join the Bond film universe, but not as the superspy.

Speaking to Interview magazine about the Marvel sci-fi, she said: "I play Nebula, the female villain. She's really sadistic.

"One time, I had a man in a headlock, and then I just decided that Nebula would lick his face. I feel like she's a face licker.''

She added about her ambition to play a 007 baddie: ''My dad used to tell me when I was younger, 'You don't want to be a Bond girl, you want to be a villain'. That stuck with me.

"'I just want to lick [Daniel Craig's] face!"

Karen isn't the only Marvel actor tipped to take over the role too, fellow Scot Richard Madden made his MCU debut in 2021's Eternals.

Other Marvel stars include Idris Elba at 7-1, Tom Holland at 14-1, Tom Hiddleston at 33-1 and Benedict Cumberbatch at 50-1.

Speaking on the odds a William Hill spokesman told the Inverness Courier : “We are lucky to have a massive variety of talented female actresses who’ve carved a name for themselves within action and sci-fi genres, and are now in prime position to play a female James Bond.

“And Karen Gillan would be an amazing pick for the role – not only can she carry on the Scottish 007 legacy that Sir Sean Connery started, but she can add some Nebula and Amy Pond-esque sass to the role and add a new dimension to the legendary character.”
