An actor fromAvengers: Infinity War has revealed they had to turn down a role in Endgame despite being killed off in the previous film.
In 2018's Infinity War, the villainous aides of Thanos (Josh Brolin) – known as members of the Black Order – are introduced. They comprised Corvus Glaive (Michael Shaw), Cull Obsidian (Terry Notary), Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) and Proxima Midnight, who was played by Carrie Coon.
Now, Coon has revealed that, despite being killed by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), the plan was to return as the the character in Endgame. In the actor's own words, "no one ever dies" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Unfortunately, Coon had to turn the role down due to a scheduling conflict. Proxima returned thanks to time travel in the blockbuster and was played by Monique Ganderton.
Speaking about winning the role, Coon told PeopleTV's Couch Surfing: "I got a voice-over audition; it was not specified what the project was. They were being very secretive about it, but I was given some of the lines that did end up being in the film.
"[The Russos] were excited about the possibility of me actually physicalising the character as well, and they invited me to come down to Atlanta. I was pregnant and doing a play at the time, so I flew down and was on set with them for about 12 hours."
It's unknown what project Coon was filming at the time, but her most recent credits include TV show The Sinner, the now delayed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and The Nest, a psychological thriller starring Jude Law.
Her most famous roles include Gone Girl, the third season of Fargo and Damon Lindelof's acclaimed HBO drama The Leftovers.
