The family of Ava White have sent a simple request to people across the city as they mark the anniversary of her death.
Today marks one year since 12-year-old Ava was murdered after attending a Christmas light switch on in Liverpool city centre on November 25. The schoolgirl was stabbed in the neck by a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after an argument about him filming her on Snapchat.
Ava's tragic death caused shock and outrage across the region as tributes poured in from loved ones, public figures and strangers. The family have now asked the public to help them to remember Ava by lighting a candle at 6pm on Friday night in her memory.

A series of tributes have been left by Ava's loved ones on Church Street in Liverpool city centre including a photograph of her attached to a tree and floral memorial in the shape of a butterfly.
One tribute said "we love you all the world" and added that Ava will be "forever 12." A love heart paid tribute to "our beautiful angel", while another message said "we miss you always and forever".
The Ava White Foundation was set up by Ava's family following her murder to help prevent knife crime and raise awareness of its dangers. The foundation has set up a Gofundme page with the aim of raising £5,000 to cover the cost of 50 bleed control packs that will be distributed to different venues across the city.
A message on the fundraising page said: "For the cost of a kit, £96, a life could be saved and their family spared lifelong grief knowing that they could perhaps have survived had there been a bleed control kit available. We are reaching out to ask if your in a position to help us by raising funds to go towards buying a bleed kit to help us reach our x50 packs goal in Ava’s memory.
"As a foundation we held a family fun day fundraiser on the 16th October and amazing raised £1738.78 but we will continue to raise money until we hit our £5000 target for the fifty bleed control packs."
In an interview last month, Ava's older sister Mia White, 19, paid tribute to her "funny" and "loving" sister. Mia told the BBC: " Ava was funny, she was loving, she was caring, she was kind. She was just how every child is at 12. Ava was just like a little light that never ever dimmed down."
